The purpose of this meeting is to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge, and discuss significant issues related to supporting families going through separation. We believe that your expertise and insights would contribute to the success of this gathering.
Programme Overview:
The focus of this meeting will be on the role of fathers and mental health within the family law arena, with a specific look at the unique challenges fathers face during family breakdowns. Mental health struggles, particularly among men, are often compounded by the complexities of family law and separation, making this a critical area of discussion.
We have a line-up of expert speakers who will address these issues and provide insight into how we can better support separated parents in our community.
Speakers:
Travis Britton – Facilitator at Dada Matter
Travis will explore the experiences and challenges fathers face, especially during family breakdowns, and the pressures that come with maintaining relationships with their children while navigating separation. Travis will also set out challenges for the audience to consider, followed by an open dialogue.
Jay Harrison – Suicide Bereavement Service Manager, Norfolk and Waveney Mind
Jay manages a small team offering support to individuals struggling with the complex grief that follows suicide. He will discuss the link between relationship breakdown and suicide, particularly focusing on the impact family breakdowns have on fathers' mental health. Jay’s talk will provide up-to-date insights and share practical tools for professionals working with separated parents.
(Speaker TBC)
We are hopeful to have a guest speaker from the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust to discuss mental health interventions and support services available to families undergoing separation.
Aim of the Event:
This meeting aims to help professionals working with separated parents to better understand the unique mental health challenges these parents, especially fathers, face. Each speaker will set a challenge and encourage open dialogue, helping us improve practices and develop insights that can be shared with the Local Family Justice Board.
Please feel free to join us in this important discussion to enhance support for separated parents and improve outcomes in our practice. We look forward to seeing you there!
